PROJECT MANAGEMENT

More and more activities are conducted as projects nowadays. This originates from the hasty way businesses have grown and developed in the last 20 years but also because of the globalization and accessibility of communication and information technologies. Project Management has been long established in fields such as engineering, constructions and consultancy. Grounds for growth however have been found in businesses unthought-of only few years ago. The potential of this mature subject is now used to control finances, tasks, resources, information, quality and risk in every industry. Alongside with the development of PM a new demand for Project Managers and appropriate standards have appeared. Many countries such as Great Britten, United States, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark etc., have introduced new law requirements for applying those standards and following the already established methodologies for managing projects.
The focus of PM is now not only on finding solutions to business problems but also working faster and more efficient, under the pressure of constantly changing market environment. Project Managers are now required to possess proven abilities in leadership and communication on all levels – inside and outside the project; to show flexibility and resourcefulness at all times.
